Seeking Your Support for Re-election![]() I am seeking your vote in order to serve a second term on our School Committee. I want to continue my work toward wise decision-making that will maintain educational excellence in our schools, while doing everything possible to keep our children, teachers and community safe. I strive to be champion for an informed citizenry that supports public education. I am currently the chair of the Concord School Committee, proud to serve with my colleagues. The current priority is that of protecting student and faculty-staff during the COVID-19 crisis. We are fortunate to provide for many in-school hours, while enabling remote learning as well. Restoring more in-person teaching and learning should soon be possible, with plans emerging to guide us. We have important projects underway, and I am committed to success on many fronts: a beautiful new middle school, within budget; welcoming schools for our increasingly diverse staff, students, and community; new contracts with employee bargaining groups; student and staff wellness and safety; resumption of full-day classes for everyone; fiscal stability and operating budgets that earn the support of the communities we serve; and decision-making that is visible, representing the interests of all stakeholders. I have worked in Concord since 1985, and my wife Reyne and I have lived in West Concord since 1996. Our two children went through the Concord/Concord-Carlisle schools, and are now preparing to embark on their careers. I am grateful for the opportunities they were afforded, and the teachers and friends who helped them grow. A new group of students now follow, and they deserve the very best education we can provide. Challenges lie ahead. Our superintendent and the leadership team will benefit from our support and oversight. Budgets, program initiatives, policies, facilities and more will require careful attention. Please contact me and share your ideas about the schools we need in order to prepare our children for success in the 21st century global community. |
